Open an asset from Models, Sprites orSearch to inspect it before downloading. Available controls and files depend on the selected asset. Expand a topic below for practical steps.
Inspect a 3D model
- Wait for the viewer to load. Choose Orbit or Pan to change how dragging moves the view, and use Zoom in or Zoom out to adjust the framing.
- Toggle Wireframe to examine geometry, Grid for a spatial reference, Lighting to compare lit and unshaded views, and Dark background to check the silhouette.
- If animation is available, open the animation picker and search for a clip. Use Play/Pause, the 0.5×, 1× or 2× speed selector, and Loop animation to inspect playback. Animation controls are disabled when the model has no clips.
These are preview controls, not edits to the downloaded asset. Browser rendering is not a guarantee of the original game's lighting, materials or animation behavior.
Inspect sprites, images and frame sequences
- Open the image or animation picker and search names or chapters when a collection has multiple members. Use Previous results and Next results for additional matches.
- For a multi-frame sequence, use Play/Pause or move the Frame slider. Moving the slider pauses playback so you can examine a particular frame and its position in the sequence.
- Use View full collection when offered to return from an individual resource to its collection. An empty source frame can be intentional; it is not necessarily a loading failure.
Preview frame timing can use assumed presets and may not match in-game timing. Do not infer an original frame rate from playback speed. Check asset-specific technical notes before using the sequence in a project.
Choose a download and understand its contents
A 3D download is a GLB file. Some larger downloads are stored in parts: the browser reconstructs the GLB and checks its size and SHA-256 hash, then shows a Save link. Click that link to finish saving. If preparation fails, retry rather than using an incomplete file.
In the sprite inspector, Download image saves the available PNG or BMP for a single-frame resource; Download GIF saves the available GIF for a multi-frame resource. These links appear only when an appropriate download is available. An Original GLB link, where offered, is separate from the image download.
Download All Assets or Download complete collection ZIP gives the available collection package, rather than only the currently selected image. Collection packages can include frame images and resource metadata. Inspect the ZIP's contents and metadata for that collection; do not assume it includes a full game, every historical resource, or a license to reuse the files.
Prepare files for another tool and check limitations
Import a GLB into a tool that supports glTF binary files. Check its scale, orientation, materials, transparency and animation clips there before relying on the result. Keep an unchanged copy of the download and make conversions on a separate copy. A GLB download is not a promise of compatibility with every editor or game engine.
For pixel art, inspect the source image dimensions and transparency before resizing. Nearest-neighbor scaling is a useful option when you want to preserve hard pixel edges. For animation, check frame order, canvas alignment and timing in your destination tool; a GIF preview should not be treated as verified original game timing.
A planar sprite or billboard can be flat image geometry rather than a complete 3D model. Rotating it does not reveal a modeled back or hidden volume. Distinguish sprite frames, textured planes and full meshes using the asset's technical details and preview.
If the preview reports a loading error or an image too large for interactive display, read the status message and use an available original download to inspect it locally. A thumbnail alone does not establish that every animation or texture is present.
Check sources, credits and permission before reuse
Read the asset's source and technical information and any metadata included in its download. Source references explain where a file came from; they do not by themselves grant permission. Missing source or license details should be treated as unknown, not as public-domain status.
Models, images, characters and trademarks may belong to their respective rights holders. Before redistribution or commercial use, identify the relevant rights holder, check asset-specific terms and obtain any necessary permission. Preserve required attribution; credit alone does not replace permission. See the Terms of Use.
To report a source error, technical issue or rights concern, emailnostalgia64@proton.me with the asset page URL and the relevant file or animation name.
